I can write my name!

At the beginning of kindergarten, practicing writing your name is super important! Most of my students come in to kinder knowing how to spell their name out loud, but very few have actually had practice writing it. I made this printable to give my students a fun way to practice writing their names!

Fancy pen is probably their favorite!

Head on over to my blog to download this freebie and see what else I use to help my kinders with fine motor skills in the beginning of the year.

Duty Reminder Sign

I always write my duty on a yellow piece of construction paper and post it somewhere near my computer.  I try to make it all cute by cutting it crazy and outlining it in black.  LOL.. I think I am a little more creative with my computer than a pair of scissors.

So I made a much cuter sign this year and wanted to share it with you.

Footprint Poem

Hello Freebielicious friends!

I know you are starting to gear up for another great year and I want to give you a little something that will help you and your kiddos get off on the right "foot" this year!

It's a little footprint poem that goes on the floor in the entryway of your classroom. Parents and kiddos love reading this poem on their way into the classroom on the first day or at "Meet the Teacher"..... it lets them know how excited you are to see them and gets them ready for a successful year ahead! What a great ice breaker!

I originally discovered this poem/idea on the site, Little Giraffes (an amazing resource) years ago and have used it ever since! I just made it all cute and ready to print for you guys!

Grab yours HERE!

I hope you enjoy as much as I have over the years!

Beginning of the Year: Glue Practice

Last year my students had a blast practicing how to use glue! We sang our glue song to the tune of 'If You're Happy and You Know It', "Just a little bit of glue holds a lot (snap, snap). Just a little bit of glue holds a lot (snap, snap). Just a little bit of glue, just a tiny little dot. Just a little bit of glue holds a lot (snap, snap)!"
They did such a good job! I was so proud of them! I told them that if they made small dots, then I would sprinkle some glitter on their monsters at the end :) I think this was their favorite part! They couldn't wait to take the monsters home!

Stamping Freebie for Back to School

I love to use stamps at my writing station, especially at the beginning of the year.  The kids LOVE stamping and with clear expectations, it can be a success!  Here is a little freebie to file away for back to school!

Back to School FREEBIE

I just updated this freebie so that PreK and 1st grade teachers can use it as well.  All you do is have students color "their very, very best" on the first day of school and then again the last week of school.  It makes a great comparative assessment and the results are phenomenal.  Of course, the formation of their name changes TONS as well.  It provides a great visual for parents to see their child's growth in this area.  Swing on into MMMB to grab this FREEBIE!

Need a FUN, CHEAP, INTERACTIVE End (or beginning) of Year Gift for your Students?

I do this activity that doubles as a gift and time filler at the end of the year each year, but it could also be a beginning of year thing as well with a little bit of tweaking!  The kids LOVE this souveneir to take home and play with all summer long.  Swing on in to Mrs. Miner's Monkey Business to find out what we do with these balls and grab a pokey pin freebie, too!  Are you on summer break yet?  I have 4 more days and then I am D-O-N-E and MMMB will be open full time for the season!
