Daily 5 Second Edition~Book Study {Chapter 8}

The Daily 5 Second Edition has not only refreshed my memory of Daily 5, but has reinforced what I've known all along…you have to be flexible!
Chapter 8 is a great chapter all about the Math Daily 3.  It's full of ideas and suggestions to make your Math Block better for you and your students!
My Chapter 8 post {here} shows how I organize my math materials, how I do my math writing with Question of the Day, and a GREAT freebie to get you started this year!
You can find my FREEBIE {HERE} on TpT
The book study will be taking a break this coming Friday because many of us will be living it up in Las Vegas for the ITK and TpT Conferences, but we will finish up the book with Chapter 9 on July 18th!
Check out the other great posts for Chapter 8 below and linkup to join in on the book study, be sure to post what you thought of the chapter and include the button!

Daily 5 Chapter 7 and a Freebie!

You’ve been building stamina and laying the foundation for all of the Daily 5 components.  It’s time for take off.  It’s time to ‘launch’ Daily 5.

It can be a daunting task to come up with a variety of different Word Work activities that your students can do independently, so I decided to whip one up for you.  A write the room activity is always a favorite of students, because it gives them a chance to move.  This one is differentiated so that you can be sure that, not only will they be moving, but they will be engaged and challenged at their own readiness level as well.

Head on over to my blog and see how I launch my Daily 5 and pick up your Write the Room freebie.

Just click on the picture or my button to get there.

Daily 5 Second Edition~Book Study {Chapters 3-4}

We are in the second week of our book study and I couldn't be more thrilled!  The most frequent question we have been hearing is, "Is the second book really that different than the first?"  My answer?  Yes.  The basic framework is the same, but a lot of the details have changed.  The second edition provides a lot more flexibility!  (Can I get an Amen?)  It also has a chapter on math!  If you are interested in following along, check out the posts below and link up if you have a blog!

Word Work: February Words

Over the summer I created these word work cards to add to both my word work center and my writing center. They have been such a blessing to have! The students absolutely love them!

At the beginning of the year my students would write a word and draw a picture to accompany the word. Then they moved on to writing lists (like below)...

Now they are using the cards to write simple sentences and stories! It is wonderful! The best part is...they never bother me during my reading group to ask me how to spell something :)
I just updated the pack to include the February words. So head on over to grab your copy! Enjoy!
