School is Cool! Summer Craft

I wanted to share this fun little craft with you that my awesome friend Denise inspired me to create a few years ago!

A fun bulletin board craft for the bright summer months!

Click {here} to download the craft and writing templates for free! Leave me some feedback if you'd like!

Also, my sweet friend Jen made another version of the writing template which you can get for free too {here}.

Hopefully that'll give you something fun to do with your kiddos as the year winds down.

I, on the other hand, have way too many days left!!!

Summer Fun Ideas Packet!

Last year I put together this freebie of summer fun ideas. I print out this packet and stick it in a sand bucket with some other goodies for my kiddos at the end of the year. I teach a small special education class so I tend to splurge a little bit on gifts since I only have to purchase 8, not 28! [It's a perk in my book!]

This years bucket includes:

- Summer Fun Packet
- $1 Book from Scholastic
- stickers (came with Scholastic order)
- 1 splash ball
- 1 container of bubbles
- 1 glow stick/wand
- 1 pack of stamps
- 1 pack of flash cards (differentiated for each child based on need)
If you downloaded this freebie last year, make sure you snag the updated copy! {click here}

It's that time of year when our kinders are gearing up for summer and we're gearing them up for first grade.

To help you out and to give them some engaging activities to work on while you complete your assessing . . .  memory books . . . end of school celebrations and report cards, I've put together a little sample pack of interactive printables.

There's a math, phonics and writing activity included. So stop on over to and pick up your copy.

Summer Fun Printable Packet

For my end of the year gifts for my students I compiled this packet of summer fun ideas. Things parents can do at home with their child over the summer to make learning fun! I added them to some buckets with other materials too. Some of the suggestions in the packet, they can use the items in the bucket for!

I know most of you are out of school, but some of you haven't quite finished up yet. You can grab this packet for free if you want to use it with your students too! It would probably be more ideal for pre-schoolers, or your intervention K students. But, HEY! it's Free! Download it and see if it meets your needs!
Click {here} to go to my blog post and get more info on what is included in the buckets and the links to download the pack on either TpT or TN!

French Fry Sight Word Activity

Anyone else OBSESSED with the Dollar Bin at Target? (I seriously need an intervention!)  I was there last week, and found some cute goodies to make a sight word activity for my kids.  It's hands on and picnic themed to get ready for summer!  Head over to my blog to see what we are playing with in my class...there is a recording sheet freebie to go along with it. :)

Subtraction Splash!

I love this time of year as the weather warms up, the stores start to stock up for summer time, and my students are rocking out on their math skills!

I created this fun game to help introduce the concept of taking away in preparation for our subtraction unit!

Subtraction Splash!
I have my students start with 10 or 20 game pieces and place them on their mat. Then they choose a number card from the stack and take away that many pieces.

If they pick a splash card, they have to put all of their game pieces back in the pile. They play until someone gets rid of all his/her game pieces.

They absolutely love this game and it really helps them understand the concept of "taking away".
You can pick up this freebie in my TpT store and check out the other fun summer themed games I have available!
