Writing Offices and a Give Away

Do you use Writing Offices in your classroom?! I have seen teachers that use one folder, two folders, and even three file folders for their offices! I use 3! I wanted to create an office that would help my students become more independent writers, but also wanted to be able to use them for privacy, during tests. :-)

I am sharing my FREE covers with you today! You can download your FREE covers by clicking the image below!
 You can see how I put my folders together by clicking this image.

We Love to Write!

We sure do have a great group of budding writers this year! We recently introduced some new writing activities in our writing center and the kiddos are loving them! The fact that they CHOOSE to go to the writing center makes me so happy!

I have a really sweet bunch this year and they are exceptionally nice to each other, so I knew they would really enjoy our note writing center. I copied a bunch of the note writing templates onto white paper and stuck them in a little bucket. My students can write notes to each other, their family or even their dear teachers :) Then they stick the notes in the appropriate cubbies for delivery. They get so excited to receive little notes in their cubbies too :)

 {I love you because you are sweet and nice and generous. #swoon}

 {I like your Darth Vader shirt.}

 {I like you because you are nice.}

I found this one of my desk after school...so precious!! {and I love that she signed it "stodin't}

If you want to use these fun little templates in your writing centers this month, click on the link to grab them below!
Happy Valentine's Day from Miss Kindergarten!

100th Day Writing FREEBIE!

Hey Peeps! It's Traci from Dragonflies in First!

Are you approaching 100 days at school?

I seriously cannot believe we are already nearing that mark!

I have a FREEBIE writing lesson to help you celebrate that day!

As many of you know I am obsessed with teaching writing. I absolutely LOVE it! If you aren't so in love with it... this simple mini-lesson might change your mind and get you hooked!!!

I take pictures of my kids and age them using one of those AGING APPS from the iTunes App Store, then print them out to place them at the top of their final draft.

Beyond adorable. Seriously.

And... for those who celebrate Grandparents Day... there is a version of this writing lesson for you, too!

Winter Writing

Every month I like to change out my student's writing on my display boards. I keep these each month to show the progression at the end of the year. It is truly fascinating how much they grow over the year.

I am now providing a color version for you to display on your smartboard to give them an example. Click on either pic to grab this freebie.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...Christmas! {Writing Freebie}

You might say I am a *tad* but early for Christmas but my students can't stop talking about it!
We turned our classroom into a full-swing Christmas workshop this week!
The children have been getting really excited talking about what they want from Santa so I thought it would be fun to create this writing list template and leave it out at my Writing Centre.
I also added a variety of toy flyers so that the students would cut and paste their favourites and write about them on the list.
Come on over and see lots of photos from my classroom,and download your FREE List for Santa writing paper too!

Beach Theme Sentences

I know school is just around the corner, but I CAN'T let go of my summer vibe!  I made a little Beach Simple Sentence Freebie for you to use when practicing writing sentences.  My students LOVE this because there are so many activities for them to do on one page...

For each page the students:
Read it.
Trace it.
Write it.
Cut and paste it.

These are fun and engaging, and once the students are trained on how this sheet works, they can start building sentences all on their own!
